A Brown Bridesmaid Dress for Your Maid of Honour

One of the first things a bride begins to think about when planning her wedding is the color palette she will choose for her big day. Consider carefully the wedding party gowns you choose, as they will set the foundation for the entire color scheme. Have you considered a brown bridesmaid dress? While brown may be traditionally thought of as a fall color, it can work beautifully for a wedding of any season. Any selection of Dressywomen bridesmaid dresses in a rich brown hue would look lovely for an outdoor garden wedding or a rustic barn soirée.

Wedding party gowns can be a tricky thing to shop for, because you are dressing your friends in gowns you hope they love as much as you do. When choosing the same dress for all of your bridesmaids, you should look for universally-flattering features. A brown bridesmaid dress will complement different skin and hair colors. A style with a flexible fit, like an empire waist, works well when you are picking one dress for many ladies.

Brown is a very versatile color; it looks great on almost anyone and works well for any season. However, a brown bridesmaid dress isn't quite as easy to accessorize as a black or grey dress. Look for neutral- or bold-colored accessories to pair with your brown bridesmaid dresses. Gold accessories are perfect no matter your color scheme, whereas pink, blue, or green accessories work well as long as they are in your color palette.

What NOT to do when you shop for your wedding gown: Three rules of thumb

1. Don’t shop too soon: Shopping early for a wedding gown has always been a rule to avoid hassles, but there is such a thing as shopping too soon. Shopping more than 12 months in advance is not recommended. If you shop sooner than that you may end up with gown regret, as many brides do. Styles change every season—keep that in mind.Generous_A-line_One_Shoulder_Flowers_Ruched_Sequins_Satin_Inexpensive_Wedding_Dresses_Under_200_Sale_WD-4808-1_1
It is important to have the rest of your wedding planning started or ready to go before you can shop for a dress. Remember, many factors can influence the style of the dress, such as the venue, time of year, formality and more. For example, you don’t want to buy a thick satin wedding dress for a summer wedding. Or vice-versa, you don’t want to have a short silk dress for a fall or winter wedding. Also, what if you change your mind about the size of your wedding after you have purchased the dress. Things can change and your budget may be altered. Again, you don’t want to end up with a black tie affair gown if you end up having a backyard or beach wedding.
2. Bringing too many people with you: Of course your wedding gown is the most important dress you’ll ever purchase or wear, so you want to make sure it is the dress of your dreams. However, bringing along 10 different people and opinions just makes the decision that much harder.
Everyone wants to have a say and everyone likes different things. Most brides do best with just their mother and perhaps a sister or best friend. Three should be your limit to avoid getting confused and overwhelmed. You have to please yourself, not everyone else.
3. Don’t try on too many dresses: A bride can drive herself crazy by trying on a hundred wedding gowns. Sometimes, a bride is trying on so many gowns because she’s just not ready to end the shopping experience. It can become addictive.
Also, remember that not every bride has “the moment” where the tears bursts into tears because she has found the perfect gown. For you, it may be more subtle than that. Just make sure you feel very comfortable, beautiful, and like a bride. You will know when that time comes, and it doesn’t take as long as you might think.

Red Carpet Looks On Today’s Bride

Bridal gowns designers have been crossing over to the red carpet for a few years now, and they indeed use the same trends they do for celebrities as they do for the everyday bride.
The influence is obvious and well-received by both parties. Who doesn’t want to look like a movie star on their big day?
Sheer Necklines

This year, we have seen an array of wedding dresses with sheer necklines, also known as illusion necklines wedding dresses, with lovely appliquéd lace or just plain. This look is so feminine and soft looking and perfect for the bride who is not comfortable wearing something strapless. It gives the illusion of bear skin without actually baring anything at all. The look is perfect for most bridal styles, especially the romantic bride, the vintage bride, the bohemian bride and even the modern bride. It is the ideal balance between sexy and sophisticated and can be tailored or embellished to suit so many different tastes.
Show Your Leg!

For the daring bride, oh yes… showing some leg is very hip in bridal fashion right now and it looks like the red carpet trend is here to stay. The slit-font wedding gown looks best with a sheath or empire gown and can vary in height. Those super confident brides who want to feel sexy may go with a rather high one at the top of the thigh, while some brides just want to show a little let with the slit starting at the knee. The choice is yours. Some brides are even getting dresses without slits altered to add one. A statement fabric cut such as this is the only thing you need to wow your guests. The simpler the gown, the better a sultry slit will look!
Shorter Hemlines

Shorter hemlines such as tea-length skirts wedding dresses have been all over the red carpet. Celebrities can’t seem to get enough of this wink and a nudge to the vintage wedding gown era. Think Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. The shorter dress offers a retro feeling for warmer weather brides who want to show a little leg in a more subtle way. The correct way to wear this trend is to ensure that hem hits at the calf or shin. Never go too short or you will lose the vintage feel.
